This year’s platypus month campaign theme ‘Take the Lead for Platypus’ encourages dog owners to leash their dog around waterways to protect platypus and will be promoted during October in Victoria.
Everything you need to get your school/students involved in platypus month can be found at the Victorian WaterWatch website including a cross-curricular school activity pack developed for the Victorian Platypus Month Working Group by River Detectives!
There are simple activities to raise awareness of platypus threats for all year levels than can value-add to your River Detectives learning.
You may even ‘take the lead’ and have your school run a community event . . . . (see the communication pack at the link above)
If you get involved in any way, we’d love to know about it and feed it back to the working group so keep in touch and email riverdetectives@nccma.vic.gov.au with any stories/photos of what you get up to (or comment on this post).
