Just something to keep in the back of your mind . . . . if you are undertaking any work at school around threatened species Zoos Victoria can help!
It could be:
- habitat enhancement (making a frog bog, installing nestboxes, enhancing a dam or wetland)
- inquiry work (researching a species)
- citizen-science data collection (waterbug sampling, nestbox monitoring, water quality monitoring)
- community education (sharing your knowledge, advocacy work)
Whether it’s a short or long-term project, a small or large focus, with Foundation students or Year 12’s, the Zoos Victoria education website and their staff can assist:
- Animal teaching resources; toolkits available for a variety of threatened species
- Become a Fighting Extinction School; The Fighting Extinction Schools program provides teachers with support to build their own curriculum-linked wildlife conservation projects with their students.
- Share your project with others, promote what you’re doing and be inspired by what other schools are doing via their unique online sharing platform. Zoos Victoria staff will provide feedback and support.
There are also teacher PD sessions, online programs (and of course Zoo visits) available.
