This will not be applicable to all but it would remiss of us not to raise awareness that the 2026 duck hunting season opens TOMORROW at 8am.
2026 duck hunting season details:
- Season opens: 8.00am on Wednesday 18 March 2026
- Season closes: 30 minutes after sunset on Monday 8 June 2026
In general, hunting is permitted
- in State forests, unoccupied Crown land and State Game Reserves.
- on leased and licensed Crown land or private land with permission of the licensee or land owner/manager.
If your water testing site may be subject to duck hunting, please be mindful if you are collecting a water sample early before school, especially on duck season opening day. Hunting activity typically occurs early in the morning or late in the day.
