Just letting you know about a citizen-science opportunity you might like to involve your students in during Science Week August 9-17 or promote through your school newsletter for families to do at home.
CSIRO Wild Watch calls curious minds— young and young-at-heart— to connect with nature and form a nationwide team of citizen scientists. Together we can understand and protect Australia’s unique and beautiful environment. Young people, families, schools and community groups can head outdoors, observe local flora and fauna, and contribute valuable biodiversity data for Australian research.
Getting involved is easy:
1. Register online – visit CSIRO.au/WildWatch to find out more and you will be emailed everything you need to get involved.
2. Head outside – during National Science Week your backyard, local park or reserve, bushwalk, beach or schoolyard becomes your science lab.
3. Snap a photo of any interesting plants or animals you see and upload it to our national biodiversity database.
Teacher resources available: register for CSIRO Wild Watch to receive a suite of curriculum aligned teacher resources, student worksheets and how to guides.
